We’ve seen it in the eyes of young women who can drape a saree in a dozen novel ways, in the hands of artisans’ children who understand the language of thread and dye better than anyone, and in the diaries of countless students sketching designs that the world has never seen.

For decades, this raw, authentic talent has been a well-kept secret, locked away by geography and circumstance. The path to a professional fashion career has been a narrow, expensive highway, accessible only from the country’s sprawling metropolitan cities. A brilliant mind in Lucknow, a determined artist in Satara, or a visionary in Kutch had a dream, but the door to a world-class education remained firmly closed. This is not just an oversight; it’s a loss for the entire Indian fashion landscape.

The Journey of Our Founder

Our founder, Sarika Jeswani, didn’t start her career in a design studio. She started it in the structured, high-stakes world of banking. Surrounded by numbers and spreadsheets, she built a successful career but felt a persistent creative pull—a calling she couldn’t ignore. It was the same calling that many of our students feel today.

Driven by this passion, she made a courageous leap. She left the security of her corporate job to immerse herself in the world of fashion, learning it from the ground up. She worked in textile manufacturing, feeling the pulse of the loom; she served as a designer, translating ideas into tangible garments for Indian and international brands; and she worked as a stylist, understanding how clothes come alive on a human form.

Through her unconventional journey, Sarika discovered a powerful truth: passion, when combined with practical skills, is more valuable than any traditional pedigree. She realized that the barriers keeping talented individuals out of the industry were artificial. They could be broken.

The Spark That Started a Movement

The idea for Core Fashion Academy wasn’t born in a boardroom. It was born from the convergence of two realities: the immense, overlooked talent pool across the country and the proof, in Sarika’s own journey, that a new path was possible.

It began with a simple, powerful question: “What if we could take the world-class education found in the metros and deliver it directly to the hands of every aspiring designer, no matter their pin code?”

What if we could use technology to build a borderless campus? A place where a student in a small Maharashtrian town could learn digital design from an industry expert, and a girl from a Gujarati craft-cluster could learn how to turn her family’s heritage into a global brand?

With over 11 years of professional experience spanning the corporate and creative sectors, Sarika Jeswani brings a uniquely holistic perspective to fashion education. Her journey began in banking, where she honed her strategic and business skills. Answering a deep creative calling, she transitioned to the fashion industry, gaining multifaceted, hands-on experience in design, textile manufacturing, and styling for a host of Indian and international brands.

As the founder of Core Fashion Academy, Sarika is dedicated to democratizing fashion education. She combines her industry expertise with her passion for mentorship to create practical, accessible, and empowering learning experiences that bridge the gap between raw talent and professional success.
